What Adoptions With Love is Thankful for This Year

It has certainly been an eventful year. Between an ongoing pandemic, rising inflation, changing abortion laws, and baby formula shortage, 2022 brought some unexpected challenges for expectant, birth, and adoptive parents.

Though we have all faced many ups and downs over the past few years, there are still many things for which we are thankful. This sentiment is not lost on Adoptions With Love. As an agency, we have experienced joy and bonding, watching adoptive families grow and birth mothers build a network of loving support.

In honor of Thanksgiving this year, we would like to share some of the things we are grateful for as an adoption agency.

1.     Incredible Clinicians & Hospital Staff

Healthcare workers are our real-life superheroes. This was proven repeatedly over the course of the past three years by doctors, nurses, and multitudes of dedicated hospital professionals.

Between overcrowded waiting rooms and special COVID-19 protocols, there has been added stress in hospital settings. For both birth and adoptive parents, there is always stress involved in the adoption process, but recent changes in hospital policies have added to this unique circumstance.

This Thanksgiving, we want to give a special thank you to the hospital staff who have been so patient, flexible, and understanding when it comes to adoption and birth. The hospital is a common meeting place during the adoption process, and sets the tone for an adoption.

Whether you are an expectant parent, birth parent, or prospective adoptive parent, be sure to thank your doctors, nurses, and hospital staff for all their hard work!

2.     Patient Adoptive Families

Waiting for your child to arrive—in any circumstance—can be exhausting. However, waiting to adopt a child has its own unique challenges.

Adoptions With Love is thankful for our prospective and new adoptive families for being so patient this year. As the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved and restrictions have lessened, certain things have become easier, in a sense, and others have become more challenging. We appreciate families that are flexible and can roll with the many changes as they happen.

3.     Birth Parents & Their Trust in Us

Placing a child for adoption is the hardest decisions a person will ever have to make. Doing so as a new virus continues to spread is even more taxing. If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy or you have recently made an adoption plan for your baby, then you know how much uncertainty there can be right now.

We hold sincere gratitude for our expectant/birth parents. Thank you for trusting us to handle your adoption this year. We are grateful that you have someone to lean on during this difficult time in your life. We know that adoption is not an easy path to take, but it can bring very positive outcomes for you and your baby.  We are grateful that you have entrusted us as adoption agency and the adoptive parents you chose with your child’s life.

We want expectant/birth parents to know that we are always here for you if – and when – you need us. We can offer 24-hour support and care during pregnancy and free counseling services for up to a year after the adoption is finalized.

AWL can continue to support you and guide you through this lifechanging journey with the respect, dignity, and compassion that you deserve.

4.     Amazing Family Courts

In March of 2020, the Probate and Family Court in Massachusetts shut down due to COVID-19. For many months, the court would only hear cases that were considered emergency cases, such as children being moved to Foster Care for reports of abuse, for example. Shortly after the shutdown, the Family Court opened a virtual option to allow users to get face-to-face hearings (including for adoption placements) while keeping everyone safe from illness.

Today, the Probate and Family Court is offering both in-person and virtual appearances as needed. This flexibility accommodates the court staff, our attorneys and adoptive families in instances wherein the in-person meeting is not an option.

The finalization hearing for an adoption is a very special moment for adoptive families. Having two options for these meetings gives families the chance to “have their day in court” without having to wait for quarantine periods to end.

Thank you to the dedicated court staff for being so accommodating and flexible during this uncertain time. We are grateful to you for making adoptive families’ dreams come true!

5.     Compassionate Adoption Partners

Adoptions With Love works with the most incredible adoption specialists. We want to say thank you for all of the important work you do every day for expectant/birth and adoptive families!

These compassionate professionals offer assistance to families navigating the complicated adoption process. From the legal paperwork to the personalized phone calls and in-person visits, your diligent work makes the adoption process a much smoother one for all families.

Thank you for continuing to roll with changing policies and protocols during the ongoing pandemic. As we all develop a new “normal” way of life, there are still circumstances that require extra planning or changes in the adoption process and we hold so much gratitude for your patience and understanding.

6.     The Dedicated Staff at Adoptions With Love

The entire team at Adoptions With Love has been remarkable over the past several years. We are thankful for our entire staff, who are devoted to expectant/birth and adoptive families. They offer support and guidance through every step of the adoption journey, and always treat our adoption community with the compassion and care they deserve.

We have a lot for which we are thankful. Each year brings new challenges and new opportunities, and we are thankful for the strong network to support our growing community. We wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
