Meet Tom Cruise’s Adopted Kids

Meet Tom Cruise’s Adopted Kids

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The Golden Globe-winning actor has captivated audiences around the world for years with his thrilling and adventurous films. Starring in some of the most iconic movies of our time, fans have taken an interest in his personal life, searching the internet for “Tom Cruise children.” Before he was jumping out of planes for the wildly popular “Mission Impossible” franchise, or shouting, “Show me the money!” in “Jerry Maguire,” the actor took on his greatest role yet: Dad.

While many people already know that Cruise shares a daughter, Suri, with ex-wife Katie Holmes, they may not remember that he adopted two children before that marriage began. This is the story of how Tom Cruise adopted kids before having them biologically.

During his first marriage, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman became the proud parents of two children: Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Anthony Cruise. Both children – now adults – have maintained a close relationship with their father and have largely kept out of the spotlight.

Welcoming Isabella Jane

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were one of the most iconic celebrity couples of the ‘90s. Married for 11 years, starting in 1990, they knew they wanted to grow their family.

“From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies,” Kidman shared with Vanity Fair in 2007. “And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella.”

Isabella “Bella” Jane was born on December 22, 1992, in Miami, Florida.

Like many adoptions, especially private and domestic ones, the identities of Isabella’s biological parents have never been publicly disclosed.

Growing the Family Again

Two years after welcoming Bella into their lives, the Cruise family decided to adopt again. Kidman and Cruise adopted their second child, Connor Anthony, just after his birth on January 17, 1995.

Like in Isabella’s adoption, Connor’s birthparents have never been publicly disclosed. Both adoptions were handled with discretion, reflecting a choice often made by birth parents who wish to maintain privacy while ensuring a stable, loving future for their children.

Despite their divorce just six years after Connor’s birth, Kidman has openly discussed her gratitude for the relationship with Tom Cruise. Their marriage brought her their two beloved children.

“I got married really fast and really young,” Kidman said in an interview in 2012. “But I don’t regret that because it got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period.”

Following the divorce, Bella and Connor chose to live with their famous father in Beverly Hills.

Bella went on to attend and graduate from West London’s Delmar Academy of Make-Up and Hair. She took an interest in design while attending the school. She started her own line in 2018 – BKC – which sells t-shirts featuring her artwork.

According to her website: “Bella has been an artist her entire life. Her go-to medium is marker on paper with her inspiration for her artwork drawn largely from friends, fashion, and music.”

Bella lives in London with her husband, Max Parker. She chooses to stay out of the limelight, unlike her parents.

Connor got his own taste of fame in 2008 when he worked on the Will Smith film “Seven Pounds.” His acting work extended to the action flick “Red Dawn” in 2012 before switching his pursuits to music. In 2013, he released his debut single. He also tried his hand at DJing for a time.

Connor is also known to be an avid deep-sea fisherman. He attributes this travel passion to his parents.

“We used to go fishing a lot when I was a little kid,” he shared with PEOPLE in 2016. “I was blessed to travel the world as a young kid and now I’m traveling the world working.”

You CAN Handle the Truth…About Adoption

Tom Cruise has been doing his own stunts for years, but the most meaningful mission he has set his sights on has been fatherhood. In 2006, he told PEOPLE: “My whole life I always wanted to be a father. I always said to myself that my kids would be able to depend on me for anything. I don’t believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

He also opened up in 2010 in an interview with Esquire, sharing: “I’ll never forget the moment I became a dad. But it’s hard to describe—that level of responsibility, the desire to give such joy. The clarity: Nothing is more important than this. I remember that first night, just staring at Bella. I was checking her every second, just looking at her, feeling that immediate bond. I was probably looking at her so much that I was keeping her up.”

Adoption has had a profound impact on Tom Cruise’s life. Despite his action-packed films and whirlwind career in the entertainment industry, fatherhood holds the true value in his eyes. While he is estranged from his biological daughter, Suri, he maintains a close-knit bond to his first two children, whom he welcomed via adoption. This can serve as an important reminder that family is born from love, not DNA.
