Where to Find Unplanned Pregnancy Help in Massachusetts

Are you facing an unplanned pregnancy and living in Massachusetts? Right now, you may feel like you are in complete crisis. Know that you are not alone. There are several places you can find pregnancy help in Massachusetts.

If you are unsure about where to start, remember that you have options. If you are in the early stages of pregnancy, there are three basic paths you can take:

  • Adoption
  • Parenthood
  • Termination

The first two choices remain available throughout the pregnancy and after giving birth.

It is never too late to make an adoption plan for your child. You have plenty of time to think about this option. At Adoptions With Love, we can help you make an adoption plan at any stage of your pregnancy or even after birth. We can send a counselor to your hospital room or to your home if you would like to discuss adoption. Or, we can meet with you earlier in your pregnancy, and create a plan prior to the birth. Adoption is completely your decision and only you can decide what is best for you and your child. Remember, you have choices.

There are many resources available to expectant/birth mothers facing an unplanned pregnancy. If you are living in the Bay State, there are many great pregnancy help centers in Massachusetts that you can use for support. Some of these resources included:

  1. Pregnancy, Infancy and Early Childhood Division (PIE)

This division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts offers direct services, connections, and referrals for expectant/birth mothers like yourself. Their goal is to ensure all children in the state are raised in healthy, nurturing, and safe environments so that they can achieve – and maintain – optimal physical, social, and emotional health and well-being. There are websites, books, articles, courses, and webinars available to those seeking support.

  1. Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC)

From educational programs to support groups, MSPCC offers support for teens and young adults facing unplanned pregnancies. They also offer “Health Families” – a voluntary and free home-based family coaching program that supports young, first-time parents working to create a stable home environment. Supported by the Children’s Trust, this program is available to first-time parents ages 20 and under. Additionally, MSPCC offers engaging opportunities with other families in social gatherings throughout Massachusetts. This group can be a lifeline for those seeking to pursue parenthood as an option.

  1. Planned Parenthood: Massachusetts

Planned Parenthood is a healthcare provider that offers medical care – including sex education, medical exams and evaluations, and information – across the country. There are those that hear the name “Planned Parenthood” and immediately think of abortions. While this group does provide this service, they also offer many others, including:

  • Pregnancy testing
  • General health care
  • Birth control & education
  • Pelvic exams
  • Cancer screenings
  • STD testing
  • Other pregnancy-related services

There are four Planned Parenthood locations across Massachusetts.

  1. A Local Adoption Agency

Another resource for expectant/birth mothers is a reputable, domestic, private adoption agency. While this may come as a surprise, an adoption agency can offer you free counseling and support services as you make a decision. The right adoption agency will not pressure you into any decision and respect any decision you make. Seeking pregnancy help from a Massachusetts adoption agency does not mean you will be obligated to choose adoption.
