About AWL/Staff and Board
Amy S. Cohen, LICSW, Executive Director
Amy has been working at AWL since 1986 and she became the Executive Director in October 2001. Amy’s responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office and formulating and implementing plans for AWL’s future. Amy works extensively with expectant birth parents over the phone and in person. She also conducts home studies and provides post placement services for adoptive families. Amy has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work. Amy is married and has two young adult children.
Nancy Rosenhaus, LICSW, Associate Director
Nancy has a Master’s Degree in Social Work with extensive experience. She came to AWL in October of 1988 and became the Associate Director in 2001. Nancy counsels expectant/birth parents who are considering placing their child for adoption and she works with couples who are considering building their families through adoption. Nancy also provides on-going counseling for families regarding talking to their children about adoption and has chaired the SEARCH committee which has begun a search and reunion program at AWL. She has facilitated reunions between birth parents and adoptees. She has been a guest speaker for school systems training faculty about adoption issues. Nancy is married and has two young adult daughters.
Claudia Baier , Office Manager
Claudia recently joined the staff of Adoptions With Love in September 2012 as the office manager. She is primarily responsible for managing and ensuring operations and procedures run smoothly on a daily basis. She continuously looks for methods to improve things! With her enthusiasm, warmth and compassion, she helps provide assistance and support to our adoptive families and expectant birthparents. She is also responsible for maintaining picture files for birth parents that have placed their children through AWL. Claudia studied psychology in college, is currently enrolled in a 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, is Reiki 1 certified and most importantly she is the mother of three amazing children.
Amelia Stone, Birthparent Coordinator
Amelia joined the staff of Adoptions With Love, Inc. in March 2015 working with expectant/birth parents who are considering an adoption plan for their child. She is primarily responsible for contacting and developing relationships with all expectant/birth parents, and setting up services for them. Amelia’s attention to detail and excellent organizational skills help make sure things run smoothly. Her warm demeanor, energy, and compassion put people immediately at ease. Amelia assists birth parents and the adoptive families in the exchange of their letters and pictures. Before joining us at AWL, Amelia graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, where she earned her B.A. degree in Communications. In addition to daily communication with expectant/birth parents Amelia manages our social media, she posts on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter account. We are #blessedtohaveher! Outside of work Amelia loves to cook and enjoys trying out new recipes in the kitchen, she also loves spending time with her adorable puppy, Winnie Rose.
Nuala Sullivan-Wall, LSW, Social Worker
Nuala has been working for Adoptions With Love, Inc. as a consulting social worker since 2006, providing birth parent counseling, conducting home studies and post-placement services. She has been doing adoption social work for the past 24 years. Nuala has provided hundreds of expectant/birth parents with supportive compassionate counseling and continues to maintain long term relationships with many of these individuals. She has provided homestudy and post placement services to adoptive families and has been told how comfortable she makes people feel. She stays in touch with many of her clients from over 20 years ago! She enjoys working with all members of the adoption triad. Nuala has also worked as a hospital social worker providing services for labor and delivery and the neonatal intensive care unit. She is married with three young children and lives in Western MA.
Jackson Compere, Accountant
Jackson Compere is our Accountant bringing over 20 years of experience working with non-profit and academic organizations such as Partners in Health and Tufts University. He does general bookkeeping, tracking and booking financial transactions, payroll, and producing financial reports. Besides working at AWL, Jackson works as a business and tax consultant through his own accounting and finance practice. Jackson has a dual MBA and MS in International Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University and BS at the State University of Haiti with a major in Accounting. He has also earned a Certificate in International Relations from the Fletcher School, Tufts University.
Nellie Broderick, LCSW
Nellie recently joined the Adoptions With Love team in September 2016 as a part-time social worker. Nellie received her Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Vermont and her Masters of Social Work from Simmons College in 2014. Prior to working at AWL, Nellie worked as a clinician at Walden Behavioral Care treating individuals struggling with eating disorders. Nellie’s role at AWL is to provide support to birth/expectant parents considering adoption for their child and to conduct home studies and post placement services for adoptive families. Nellie is thrilled at the opportunity to work for AWL. In her free time, Nellie enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, being outdoors (especially in Vermont) and doing puzzles.
Debra N. Olshever, LCSW, Consulting Social Worker
Deb has been working for AWL as a consulting social worker since 2002, providing home studies, guiding families through adoptive placement, and conducting post placement services. She adopted through AWL 25 years ago, having no idea at the time that she would ultimately have a professional relationship with this agency in the future. She has helped hundreds of families since 1994 in their family building efforts. She is most gratified when some of these clients return many years later to “check in” and continue to get support. She is a principal in a small private practice therapy group, Adoption Associates, which offers counseling and consulting to all members of the adoption triad, before and after placement. She assists in families involved in search and reunion and has a true passion for her work. Deb has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. In the past, she has worked as a licensed School Psychologist and in Management Training and Human Resources.
