Meet Adam and Lori...
-
About Us:
Adam works in IT and Lori works in clinical research. Mutual friends introduced them 11 years ago and have been married for 9 years. They are proud adoptive parents of their 4-year-old daughter, Ella. They also have a small dog, Higgins, who keeps their sofa warm and likes snacks.
-
Our Hobbies:
Adam and Lori originally bonded over a love of books, food, makers’ fairs, and farmers’ markets. They spend time as a family visiting museums, parks, libraries, and hanging out with friends and family. Between the two, they both enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, movies, gaming, and cooking. Adam also enjoys painting, current events, science, and comics. Lori also enjoys knitting, sewing, embroidery, baking, as well as true crime, history, and cultural topics. Lori has recently joined a book club.
-
Our Extended Family:
Their extended family is on both in California and Oregon, as well as New York and New Hampshire, so they spend time on both coasts with Adam’s parents and sister, as well as Lori’s mother and brother. They have close friends in New England, California, and the Pacific Northwest.
-
Our Adoption Story:
Adam and Lori arrived at adoption after failed fertility treatments but were happy to build their family in whatever way would make their dream come true. Adoptions with Love matched them with their daughter in 2020, and it has been a wonderful experience. They have an open adoption and are in regular contact with their daughter’s birth mother. Ella is aware of her adoption story; she is encouraged to ask questions and share her feelings to keep communication open and enable Adam and Lori to support her.
-
Special activities we look forward to doing with our child:
As a family, they are looking forward to welcoming a new addition! Adam and Lori knew after Ella was born that they would like to adopt a second child, but the pandemic delayed plans. They are thrilled that the time is right, and Ella is extremely excited to be a big sister, wanting “a baby for OUR house!”
-
Holiday Gatherings:
Adam and Lori celebrate a variety of holidays because they have broad personal and family backgrounds. They celebrate Hannukah, as well as Christmas and Easter, and regularly host Thanksgiving dinner. While they are not religious, the cultural and social aspect of honoring holidays is important. They place a lot of value on spending time with family and friends in whatever form that takes.
-
Our Home/Neighborhood:
As for home and neighborhood, their family lives in a two-story Colonial-style house in a big and family-friendly neighborhood. It is the type of neighborhood where someone is always out walking with their babies, kids, and dogs; everyone says hi and stops to chat. There is also local conservation land and several walking trails in the area with lots of open space to explore. Their community has a broad spectrum of diversity in ethnicity, nationality, identity, age, and experience. Adam and Lori are happy to be a part of this community—a warm, wonderful, and strong place for their family to grow.
