• About Us:

We met in 2011 at the wedding of two of our best friends, while we were both living outside Washington DC. We immediately bonded over our shared faith and our love of baseball. After marrying in 2015, we moved to Massachusetts to be closer to Mary Eileen’s family. In 2023, we adopted our daughter Mary Shea and we are excited to continue to expand our family through adoption!

    • Qualities We See In Each Other:

Jim is the most loving, intelligent, and devoted man that I know. He is a man of faith, who is guided by his principles, and he works hard to instill these principles in our daughter. At the same time, he never takes himself too seriously and is always ready to be silly and have fun, building forts and coming up with a different voice for every stuffed animal we have.

Mary Eileen is selfless, caring, brilliant, and has a wonderful sense of humor that always makes me laugh. She is a great problem solver, she bends over backwards to make sure that the people she loves are supported, especially her daughter. She is always making goodies for Mary Shea, loves cuddling, and has infinite patience with both me and Mary Shea!

    • Our Extended Family:

Jim’s family lives in Maryland and Virginia. We visit with his family several times a year, including over the holidays and on their annual beach trip. Mary Eileen’s large extended family lives locally and her immediate family lives in Maine, Virginia, and California. We visit them several times a year and enjoy gathering everyone for Thanksgiving at the cabin in Maine.

    • Our Adoption Story:

We always wanted to raise children, but, unfortunately, cannot have biological children.  Ultimately, we decided to pursue adoption, and we were blessed to adopt our wonderful daughter, Mary Shea, in 2023. She is an energetic, curious, and imaginative child who loves the library, playground, and any type of sticker. We are all so excited to expand our family through the gift of adoption.

    • Activities With our Child:

We love spending time with our daughter in Maine at Mary Eileen’s family lake house, hiking, snow shoeing, and swimming! We also spend summers with Jim’s family at the beach, riding waves and building sandcastles. However, we love our everyday experiences the most: family meals, walks to the playground or pond, trips to the library, and snuggles before bedtime. We are looking forward to experiencing all these things and more with a second child.

    • Our Home:

We live in a two-story colonial house on the north shore of Boston. We have a yard for raising vegetables or playing catch, and we live within walking distance of the library, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and many other young families. We are a short drive from the beach and short hikes and we love getting outside to enjoy the beauty of the area. Our town has many family-friendly events throughout the year and is a wonderful place to raise a family.
