Meet Dan and Marisa...
-
About Us:
Marisa works as a pediatric speech language pathologist in a private practice, and Dan is the Chief anesthesiologist at a local hospital. Mutual friends introduced them twelve years ago when they were living in Florida, and they have been married for ten years. They are proud parents of their 5 year old daughter, Aubrey, and a fur baby named Lola (a fun loving yorkshire terrier).
-
Our Hobbies:
Dan, Marisa and Aubrey enjoy bike riding, hiking and going to museums and shows in the Boston and Providence areas. They do almost everything as a family, and have shared adventures from kayaking to the simple pleasures of cooking and baking as a family. Dan also enjoys playing a variety of sports and reading about current events. Marisa enjoys crochet, reading, catching up with friends and volunteering at Aubrey’s school.
-
Our Extended Family:
Both Marisa and Dan’s extended family live close by in the Boston area. Dan, Marisa and Aubrey spend time on a weekly basis with their parents, and Aubrey has a close relationship with both of them. Dan’s sister and Marisa’s sister both also live in the area. Marisa and Dan feel fortunate to have family so close by.
-
Our Adoption Story:
Marisa and Dan have embraced adoption as their next path because it is already a large part of their lives. Dan’s older sister was adopted as an infant through international adoption, and both Dan and Marisa had always hoped to adopt a child into their own personal family. Marisa and Dan also experienced several pregnancy losses both before and after conceiving Aubrey, and they hope to share the opportunity to grow their family through adoption. Aubrey has been eager to have a baby sister or brother since she was old enough to carry a baby doll. She is a very maternal child, and often pretends to play mommy to her stuffies, dollies, and Lola.
Marisa and Dan are interested in having an open adoption with a future child’s birth parent (s) and are eager to teach their adopted child about his/her biological and adopted family’s stories.
-
Special Activities We Look Forward To Doing:
As a family, Dan and Marisa are eager to welcome a new addition to their family. Aubrey is greatly looking forward to being the best big sister ever. Together they hope to share the “little moments” with your child such as spending time together reading stories, cooking and going to the playground, as well as the “big moments” such as taking trips to Storyland, Santa’s Village and Disney World. They are so ready to expand their family and to expand their love.
-
Holiday Gatherings:
Marisa, Dan and Aubrey celebrate holidays including Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Because their family is centrally located, they often host the big holidays at their home including grandparents, aunts and extended cousins. Marisa enjoys decorating for the holidays, and fills the home with the cheer of the season. Marisa, Dan and Aubrey are very close to the extended family, and always look for opportunities to get everyone together.
-
Home:
The family lives in a two story, colonial-style home in a neighborhood ideal for bike riding. The town is wholesome with excellent schools, and the family is close with their neighbors, who often stop by for a cup of coffee or tea. The town they live in has a variety of child friendly amenities including a local YMCA, town pool, local Children’s Museum and multiple parks/conservation lands with disc golf and mini golf. The town itself has many opportunities to encourage involvement with town parades, local summer fireworks and fairs. The town is a mix of ethnicities and nationalities with a high level of young and middle aged families. Marisa and Dan feel fortunate to call this town home.
