About Us

Hello! Thank you for taking some time to learn a little about us! We are Trish and Matt. We are a young, energetic couple and we are very excited about starting our family through adoption. We are surrounded by a supportive network of friends and family and we are lucky enough to be called Auntie, Uncle, and Godparents to amazing children in our lives. We have a puggle named Emmett who keeps us very busy and active.

Matt is a middle school science teacher and he enjoys creating new, fun experiments to help his students learn about science. He has spent many years coaching the boys’ soccer team and the girls’ softball team, as well as the competitive science team. Trish is an executive recruiter for hospitals and health systems and she takes great pride in helping healthcare organizations find outstanding leaders. She has a lot of flexibility with her job and works from home which will give her the opportunity to be with the baby.  Trish can’t wait to become a mother and Matt will be a fantastic dad.

We met on a blind date in the spring of 2013. Our friends from work set us up because they knew we had common interests and active lifestyles. We spent the summer getting to know each other – taking trips to the beach, going on bike rides, and cheering on Boston sports teams. We dated for about a year and a half before we got engaged. Matt proposed at the midway point in a half marathon. He told Trish he had a rock in his shoe and when Trish came over to check on him, he gave her the rock!  We got married 4 months later in the winter of 2015 on Valentine’s Day weekend – during a blizzard! It was very romantic, and all of our family and friends made the wedding – it was a very special, memorable weekend!

Our Hobbies

We both enjoy being active and exploring the outdoors – whether it be cross country skiing, hiking with our puggle, Emmett, going for a bike ride, or spending a day at the beach with family. We also love to travel and look forward to more family-friendly, local trips in the next few years as we grow our family. We both love sports and grew up playing soccer.

Qualities We See in Each Other

Trish about Matt: I feel so lucky to have met Matt and to have him as my husband! He is compassionate, thoughtful, patient, affectionate, handy, and he is always trying to make me laugh and smile! I cannot imagine navigating life’s challenges without him. Matt is naturally a very positive, balanced individual. He is the steady rock in our relationship, especially in the last few years as we have dealt with so much loss. I am very grateful for his strength. Matt also brings out the best in me and constantly inspires me to be a better person. When I see how kind and genuine he is to me and with everyone around him, it compels me to be a better person too.

Matt about Trish: I have seen the inner strength Trish possesses and it is truly inspirational.  When a challenge arises, Trish excels at putting together a plan and executing the solution. I can only imagine how awesome Trish will be as a mom.  She is an outgoing person, who is thoughtful and caring.  She brings warmth to any room she walks in and will provide nothing but comfort and love to a child.  She also gives the best hugs. When I went on a blind date 5 years ago, little did I know that I would fall in love with a woman who would inspire, motivate, and challenge me to be a better person and man.  As time has gone on we continue to learn about each other, grow closer, and understand the ways we complement each other as partners and, hopefully soon, as parents.

Extended Family & Holidays

We have a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins – who make family gatherings a top priority for us! We are very lucky because many of our family members live nearby so we get to see each other often.

We never miss a chance to celebrate birthdays or holidays with our friends and family. Most holidays are filled with many family members gathered around an extended table to enjoy a delicious meal. Every Christmas we have a big family party complete with an annual Yankee swap and a candy filled piñata for the kids!

Our Adoption Story

We believe the decision to create an adoption plan is an extraordinary act of love by the birthmother and birthfather. We will start to talk about our child’s adoption from the very beginning of their life, so they know that adoption is a positive and special experience for everyone involved. We will be honest and positive about the adoption in hopes that our child understands that he or she is loved — not only by us, his/her adoptive parents, but also by their birthparents who chose to give him/her life and make an adoption plan.

We recognize that it is tremendously difficult for birthparents to consider developing an adoption plan for their child, but that for various reasons it may be the best decision for the child. If having ongoing contact makes this decision easier for the birthparents, we will gladly remain in contact if that is what you would like, and we are definitely open to ongoing contact or meetings.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a two-story, tan-colored cape-cod style home. Our house has four bedrooms and two baths and is located in a quiet, safe, family-friendly neighborhood. We live near a state university and a number of parks. We also have a large, fenced-in backyard with raised beds for a vegetable garden. When the weather is warm, we enjoy grilling and hanging out on the deck or in the sunroom. Our neighborhood is filled with the laughter of children and wonderful families.  Trick or treating is great fun in our neighborhood.
