About Us

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! It seems unlikely that a guy from a small village in Germany would meet a girl from New York City but somehow we found each other at a mutual friend's party in Massachusetts in the summer of 2007. We got married in 2013 and it has been a wonderful adventure ever since. We are so excited to explore the world through our child's eyes. We look forward to reading books together, going on hikes around New England, and traveling to see our friends and family around the world

Our Story

Our journey to this point has been a long one. After more than four years of trying to conceive, we decided to close the door on having biological children and dream about growing our family through adoption. Once we made this decision, it felt like the entire world brightened and hope sprung in our hearts. We are thrilled to be able to grow our family through adoption and cannot wait to welcome a little one into our home.

Qualities We See in Each Other

What Oliver Loves About Margaret: Margaret is outgoing, loving, and caring. She makes more friends in a year than other people in a lifetime, and somehow she manages to stay in touch with everybody. I love her laughter; it's the heartfelt kind that you can hear from another room. She's smart and cultured, plays the flute, reads books, and enjoys going to concerts and plays. I love that Margaret has come to enjoy long nature walks with our dog.

What Margaret Loves About Oliver: Oliver is one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. I love that he is incredibly curious about the world and is always wondering how things work. He fixes everything around our house and loves creating all sorts of ad-hoc science projects. I love that he has a lot of different passions including woodworking, cooking and baking, botany, photography, and more. I can’t wait to see him as a father and to see him teach our child(ren) all about the world.

Our Adoption Story

Once we made the decision to grow our family through adoption, we immediately recognized that choosing this path is a gift based on love. We are fully committed to an open adoption and plan on being completely open with our child(ren) when it comes to their adoption story. It is important to us that our child learns about how much love their birth parents have for them to have made an adoption plan.

In addition, it is important for us to state that we are only interested in transracial adoption. As a mixed race couple, we intend to honor our child’s ethnic and racial background as we recognize this is incredibly important for a child’s development.

Our Home and Neighborhood

We live in a great neighborhood in a diverse city outside of Boston. Our condo apartment is filled with plants and light and we are close to several parks, playgrounds, and schools. There are a lot of families in our neighborhood, including several adoptive families. Racial and ethnic diversity is very important to us and our neighborhood is reflective of this.
